Overview

Complete Guide and Itinerary

Some days you can taste. A morning among the rows of strawberries, raspberries or blueberries at Delicium Farm in Borșa, with stained hands and the scent of fruit in the air, is one of them. A family business with more than 10 years of history, internationally awarded for its syrups and jams, Delicium Farm is a place where children pick the fruit themselves and adults rediscover simplicity.

We continue to the Sic Nature Reserve – 505 hectares of reeds and water in the Fizeș Valley, with a 1 km wooden boardwalk, observation towers and the stillness of a place where time follows different rules. The day ends at Quo Vadis Manor in Plăiești, with a tasting of hand-picked local honey and a light evening meal.

 1   Delicium Farm – Borșa

A family business with more than 10 years of activity, awarded the Superior Taste Award in Brussels for its raspberry syrup. Visitors pick their own strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries or aronia berries depending on the season, relax in hammocks in the shade of the willows or by the stream, and visit the farm animals. Cauldron-cooked dishes, syrups, jams and homemade pickles are sold on site.

2   Sic Nature Reserve & Știucilor Lake – Boardwalk Stroll

The reserve covers 505 hectares in the Fizeș Valley, including 220 hectares of reeds. We walk the ~1 km wooden boardwalk and stop at the two observation towers, ideal for birdwatching – egrets, herons, wild ducks and cranes on migration. The neighbouring Știucilor Lake (Pike Lake) is the only lake in Romania with floating reed islands and the deepest lowland lake in the country (10 m). A peaceful spot just 40 minutes from Cluj.

3   Quo Vadis Manor – Honey Tasting & early dinner

An old parish house of more than 100 years, restored and turned into a place of authentic hospitality. Guided tasting of local honey: different varieties from local producers – acacia, linden, wildflower and mint honey, plus propolis. Dinner of light dishes and local wine, served at the table in the manor garden. Products can be purchased on site.
